The original buildings date back to 1450. The front portion of the property, originally "Osborne House" was a wealthy merchants homestead with enormous cellars which from the 17th century stored privateers plunder alongside legitimate cargo.
The fine Granite "Newel" staircase is part of the earliest construction and displays evidence of fortification in its style. It may be found beside the Restaurant and now leads to the bedrooms above.
The Court Room and Cellars, now the Restaurant Bistro and Bars were largely restored in 1611 while more recently the Hotel was completely renovated.
The Floral Courtyard to the rear and the Deck over the harbour complete the picture.
